How to Upgrade Your VPS Plan

Short answer

In the client area open Services → My Services, select your active VPS, click Upgrade, choose a higher package, confirm billing, and pay any upgrade invoice. Upgrades change plan resources; always back up important data first.

Overview

Use an upgrade when you need more CPU, RAM, disk, or monthly transfer than your current Spark / Flame / Blaze (or other) plan provides. Billing overview: How VPSGrid Billing Works.

Before you upgrade

Back up critical site/app data inside the VM. Resource changes can involve a brief interruption depending on the product and target plan. Do not start an upgrade with an unpaid overdue invoice blocking the account.

1) Open your VPS service

  1. Log in at billing.vpsgrid.net
  2. Go to Services → My Services
  3. Open the VPS you want to upgrade (status should be Active)

2) Start the package upgrade

  1. On the service details page, click Upgrade (shown for eligible active services)
  2. Review your current configuration
  3. Choose the target plan from the available upgrade options
  4. Select the billing cycle when prompted
  5. Continue to confirmation / checkout for any prorated amount

Direct path pattern: upgrade.php?type=package&id=SERVICE_ID (opened by the Upgrade button).

3) Pay and wait for completion

  • Complete payment for the upgrade invoice if one is created
  • Watch the service for updated plan details after provisioning finishes
  • If an upgrade invoice already exists, finish or cancel that path before starting another

4) After the upgrade

  • Confirm new resources in the service details / guest OS (free -h, Task Manager, etc.)
  • Restart services if applications still report old limits
  • Re-check firewall and app configs only if you changed related settings during the window

Common limitations

  • Not every product shows Upgrade — custom builds or special products may require a support ticket
  • Downgrades (if offered) can be more restricted than upgrades because of disk usage
  • OS family usually stays the same (Linux stays Linux; Windows stays Windows)
  • Windows licensing remains BYOL unless your order explicitly states otherwise

Frequently Asked Questions

I do not see an Upgrade button

Confirm the service is Active and not blocked by an overdue invoice. If the button is still missing, open a ticket with the service ID — some products are upgraded manually.

Will I lose my data?

Upgrades are intended to increase resources on the same service, but you should always keep a backup. Never assume zero downtime or zero risk.

Can I upgrade only bandwidth?

Usually you move to a higher published plan tier. Ask support if you need a custom resource change outside standard packages.
