How to Request VPS Cancellation

Short answer

Back up your data first, then open Services → My Services, select the VPS, click Request Cancellation, choose immediate or end-of-cycle (when offered), and submit. Cancellation removes access to the VM — it is not a file-level uninstall.

Overview

This guide covers cancelling a VPS service from the VPSGrid client area. Related: How to Cancel a Service · refunds: Refund Policy Overview.

Data warning

Cancellation leads to service termination. Copy websites, databases, email data, and keys off the VPS before you submit. VPSGrid does not guarantee recovery of guest data after cancellation completes.

1) Back up first

  • Download critical files (SFTP/RDP)
  • Export databases and application configs
  • Save DNS records if the domain will move elsewhere
  • Confirm you have copies outside the VPS

2) Open the VPS in the client area

  1. Log in at billing.vpsgrid.net
  2. Go to Services → My Services
  3. Open the VPS you want to cancel

3) Submit Request Cancellation

  1. Click Request Cancellation (danger/red action on the service page)
  2. You will land on a cancellation form for that service ID (clientarea.php?action=cancel&id=…)
  3. Choose the cancellation timing offered (commonly Immediate or End of Billing Period)
  4. Enter a reason if requested
  5. Submit the request

If a cancellation is already pending, the button may show Cancellation Requested and be disabled.

4) What happens next

  • End of billing period — service usually remains usable until the period ends, then terminates
  • Immediate — service can be shut down/terminated on the cancellation schedule after the request is processed
  • Unpaid invoices and refunds (if any) follow your Terms / refund policy — do not assume an automatic refund

Important notes

  • Cancelling a VPS does not automatically cancel unrelated domains or add-ons — cancel those separately if needed
  • If the button is missing, open a support ticket with the service ID
  • Abuse / ToS terminations are handled differently from customer-requested cancellations

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I undo a cancellation request?

Sometimes, if the service has not terminated yet — open a ticket immediately with the service ID and ask to withdraw the request.

Will I get a refund?

Not automatically. Check the Refund Policy Overview and Terms of Service, then contact billing support if you believe you qualify.

Does cancellation delete my client account?

No. It targets the selected service. Your client area login can remain for invoices and other products.
