How to Change Account Details
Short answerLog in at billing.vpsgrid.net, open Account → Account Details, update your profile fields, and save. Change your password and security settings separately under account/security menus. Accurate details appear on invoices and may affect domain/WHOIS contact data.
Overview
This guide covers client-area profile changes only — not VPS hostname, root password, or guest OS users inside your server. New account checklist: What to Do After Creating Your VPSGrid Account. Client area tour: Accessing the VPSGrid Client Area.
1) Open Account Details
- Log in to billing.vpsgrid.net
- Open your account menu (often your name or avatar in the header)
- Choose Account Details (may appear under Account → Edit Details depending on theme)
2) Update profile fields
Common fields and why they matter:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| First / last name | Printed on invoices and support tickets |
| Company name | Optional; appears on business invoices when provided |
| Email address | Receives invoices, provisioning emails, and password resets — verify carefully |
| Phone number | May be used for verification or urgent billing contact |
| Address (street, city, state, postal code, country) | Billing address; may be validated by payment gateways at checkout |
- Edit the fields that need correction
- Click Save Changes (wording may vary)
- Refresh the page to confirm values persisted
3) Change your login email
Changing the account email affects where all VPSGrid notifications are sent.
- Use an inbox you monitor — provisioning and unpaid-invoice notices go here
- After changing email, log out and confirm you can sign in with the new address
- Update spam filters so messages from VPSGrid domains are allowed
If you lose access to the old inbox, open a billing ticket with identity verification — support may need to assist manually.
4) Change your client area password
- From the account menu, open Change Password or Security Settings
- Enter current password, then a strong new unique password
- Save and log in again to verify
Forgot password? Use the reset link on the login page before opening a ticket.
5) Review security settings
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) if shown on your account
- Store backup codes safely — they are required if you lose your authenticator device
- Remove unused linked social login providers if you no longer use them
- Never share client-area credentials; create separate access plans for contractors when possible
What this does not change
- VPS hostname at order time — see What Is a Hostname? and How to Change a Linux Hostname
- Root/Administrator password inside the VPS — How to Reset Your VPS Password
- Domain registrant/WHOIS contacts — may require separate domain contact updates in domain management
- Payment methods — How to Update Your Payment Method
Important notes
- Typos in name/address show on PDF invoices — fix before your next renewal if possible
- Gateway AVS checks may compare billing address to your card — mismatches can cause payment failures — Why Your Payment Failed
- VPSGrid is unmanaged — profile changes here do not patch or secure your VPS; that work happens inside the guest OS
Frequently Asked Questions
Will updating my address change domain WHOIS?
Not automatically for all domains. Update domain registrant contacts in domain management if WHOIS must match your new details.
Can I change the account holder name for a company account?
You can update displayed name/company fields in Account Details. Legal account ownership changes may require billing verification — open a ticket if transferring ownership.
I updated email but still get mail at the old address
Allow a short propagation window, confirm you saved changes, and check whether messages were sent before the update. Open a ticket if new mail still routes incorrectly.
